From April 2016 public sector projects are required to employ BIM (Building Information Management) level 2, which enables collaborative working between organisations, with design information capable of being shared. The 3D CAD information used by each party must be able to be exported in particular 3D formats - (IFC and COBie) - which in turn means that the materials used must have not only their dimensions specified in this 3D format, but their associated properties also - as a 'BIM object'. Much of the information that appears on datasheets will be encapsulated in the BIM object.
Further information about BIM levels can be found on the NBS website
BIM objects for both TLX Gold & TLX Silver are downloadable from the NBS National BIM library. Hover over arrows and scroll to get to either TLX Gold or TLX Silver.
